In case you missed it, the San José Mercury News published two letters in support of my candidacy over the past two days. The first letter is reprinted below:
Alvarado best choice to replace Shirakawa
During my term as a councilman and vice-mayor of San Jose, I prided myself on being honest, transparent and accessible. I believe these traits are critical to maintaining the sacred contract between the people and our government. Like many in our community, I am deeply disturbed by the actions that led to the resignation of former Santa Clara County Supervisor George Shirakawa Jr.
That’s why I co-founded the San Jose Committee for Good Government, a group of community leaders who share my concern for accountability in our elected officials.
I am proud to announce that we have endorsed Teresa Alvarado in the special election to replace Shirakawa because we believe she is the best candidate to restore public trust. Her reform agenda will bring sunshine to county government and help repair the damage done by those who put themselves before the people. We urge you to support her June 4.
Chairman, San Jose Committee for Good Government
Former Vice-Mayor City of San Jose
