Thank you all! The voters of District 2 have spoken, and I’m excited to have earned one of two spots in a July 30th runoff election for the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

Over the past two weeks, we have seen a growing wave of support for our campaign. Our grassroots effort has focused not just on reform and accountable government but on inclusive leadership that serves the people, and that message is clearly resonating with voters.

Here’s a look at the current results:

Cindy Chavez – 8,971 (40.71%)
Teresa Alvarado – 7,074 (32.10%)
Scott Hung Pham – 3,107 (14.10%)
Patricia Martinez-Roach – 1,515 (6.88%)
Joseph La Jeunesse – 705 (3.20%)
David S. Wall – 664 (3.01%)

In the past 24 hours, as more votes are counted, we have closed the gap with our runoff opponent, and now trail by less than 1,900 votes. I’m happy to report that we won the day in some key areas in our community, including San José’s City Council District 3, where our opponent served as a councilmember for eight years.

We have a lot of work ahead to reach voters who supported one of the other candidates as well as thousands of other voters who I know will join our growing base. I’m confident that we can do this thanks to the hard work of thousands of volunteers, donors, and other supporters in the community, many of whom joined us last night at Flames Restaurant in Downtown San José to watch election returns…

Over the next eight weeks, we will continue to build on our momentum by engaging the residents of District 2 on the issues that affect us all: public safety, health care, social services, and most importantly, eliminating political corruption. It is time not to conform to the same old politics as usual, but to transform our broken system and get back to listening to the community.

You can help kick start our efforts today by making a donation online or mailing a check to the address below. The same limits apply: $500 per individual and $1,000 per couple. If all of my 700 donors from the first round renew their support for the runoff, we will have the resources to run a robust campaign, and we will win on July 30th.

Thank you as always for your continued support. It’s time to finish what we started!
